I'm fundraising for Steps for Skye, a campaign raising awareness and funds for research into a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare and devastating genetic disorder that affects my daughter, Skye. Often referred to as childhood dementia, Sanfilippo Syndrome causes a progressive decline in cognitive and physical abilities, gradually stealing a child's speech, memory, mobility, and independence. Children are typically born healthy, but over time lose the skills they have worked so hard to develop, requiring increasing levels of care as the disease progresses. There is currently no cure, and most children affected by Sanfilippo Syndrome have a significantly shortened life expectancy. Through Steps for Skye, I am helping to fund vital research, raise awareness, and bring hope to families like ours who are fighting for more time and a better future for their children.
