I'm fundraising for Childhood Dementia Initiative
In April 2027, I'll be walking 100 kms of the Camino de Santiago in Spain to raise funds and awareness for the Childhood Dementia Initiative.
Most people don't realise that dementia affects children. Yet around 1 in every 2,900 children is born with a condition that causes childhood dementia.
These children gradually lose the skills many of us take for granted – the ability to walk, talk, eat, play, learn and eventually recognise the people they love.
Despite the devastating impact, childhood dementia research is heartbreakingly underfunded. Government funding is around 20 times lower than childhood cancer research, despite a similar death rate. It also receives far less research and clinical trial investment than many other devastating diseases.
Every dollar raised helps Childhood Dementia Initiative advocate for greater awareness, accelerate vital research and bring hope to families facing the unimaginable.
