Supporting Callum – A Community Coming Together for Childhood Dementia
Tuesday 4th AugOn Saturday, 6 February 2027, Palming Pathways will be hosting a community fundraiser at the Carrick Recreation Ground to raise funds for the Childhood Dementia Initiative in honour of an incredible young boy named Callum.
Callum is just 8 years old and lives with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes childhood dementia. While many people associate dementia with older adults, there are hundreds of Australian children living with forms of childhood dementia that progressively rob them of the skills they have worked so hard to develop.
As support workers, we have had the privilege of getting to know Callum and his family firsthand. His smile, resilience and the love surrounding him inspire us every day. This fundraiser is our way of giving back—not only to honour Callum’s journey, but to help create hope for other children and families facing childhood dementia.
Our event will bring the community together for a fun-filled day featuring entertainment, market stalls, food vendors, activities for all ages, raffles and much more. Every dollar raised will go directly to the Childhood Dementia Initiative to support vital research, advocacy, awareness and improved support for families.
If you are unable to attend the event, you can still make a meaningful difference by donating through this page. No donation is too small, and every contribution helps move us closer to a future where no child or family has to face childhood dementia alone.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Callum, his family, and every child living with childhood dementia. Together, we can raise awareness, fund hope, and help create lasting change.
