Nicholas is a Consultant Neurologist and the Department Head, Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, at the Women’s and Children’s Health Network, South Australia. He maintains a clinical focus on childhood neurodegenerative disorders and holds a conjoint academic appointment with the University of Adelaide, Discipline of Paediatrics. Nicholas heads the Paediatric Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Group, with pre-clinical (laboratory) and clinical research programmes focusing on the pathobiology of lysosomal disease and development of targeted therapeutic approaches, including gene transfer technologies, for these disorders.
Nicholas is a strong advocate for improving clinical care across the spectrum of Childhood Dementia and serves as an advisor and board member for several patient advocacy groups committed to this important goal.
