Childhood Dementia Symposium registrations open
Childhood Dementia Initiative will hold the second Childhood Dementia Symposium in Sydney's CBD on Tuesday 14 March 2023.
This symposium will bring researchers, clinicians, industry and patient representatives together to accelerate the availability of therapeutic options for children with dementia. Registration is now open.
In the morning, the symposium will feature keynote speakers and panel discussions on needs, challenges and opportunities in the development of therapeutics for children with dementia. After lunch, there will be a facilitated networking session followed by presentations and discussion around the clinical aspects of childhood dementia, including clinical trials.
A draft program is available for download.
Focus areas for the day will be:
- Defining childhood dementia and the commonalities
- Extending research on one childhood dementia disorder to multiple disorders
- Neuroinflammation, drug repurposing, biomarkers and animal models
- Gene and cell therapy
- What can we learn from adult dementia and other disease groups?
- Addressing the barriers to developing new treatments
Who will get the most from the symposium
Childhood Dementia Initiative invites those working in the childhood dementia field as well as experts from other related areas to join us to share ideas and experiences. That could include, for instance, those working in adult-onset dementia, neuroscience, data science, clinical trials, collaborative networks or industry partnerships.
Although this symposium is open to anyone who would like to attend, it is primarily for researchers and clinicians and the presentations will be scientific in nature. We plan to extend the program in 2024 to include a health and social care stream, details of this will be shared in later 2023.
If you would like to receive updates on the Symposium, or if you have any questions, please contact our Head of Research, Dr Kristina Elvidge, at firstname.lastname@example.org
