Inaugural Symposium a Success

2 March 2022

On 1 March 2022, 75 clinicians, researchers, industry and patient representatives met in Sydney for the inaugural Challenging Childhood Dementia Symposium - the first meeting of it’s kind in the world.

A combination of online and in person, representatives travelled from all over Australia including Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide. We also enjoyed remote presentations from top researchers in the USA, New Zealand and South Korea.

After the morning presentations interactive workshops were held to help shape the strategy to accelerate the availability of therapeutic options for childhood dementia. There was a definite buzz in the air as people connected and shared ideas face-to-face for the first time in a very long time! And this is just the start of how Childhood Dementia Initiative seeks to bring the greatest minds from across the world together to tackle one of the most troubling hidden challenges of our time - childhood dementia.

Thank you to everyone who participated, especially the speakers, panel members, session chairs, facilitators, our Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee and symposium sponsors Sanofi, Alexion and Illumina. This amazing event would not have been possible without you!

A detailed report outlining outcomes from the Symposium is available below.
